Cambia powder
Apr 24th, 2013 at 6:38pm

hello all-
Ill introduce myself when Im not in the middle of my brain exploding-
My neuro prescribed me cambia powder to combat the cluster (obviously it isnt working) but the urge to hurry up and take whatever I can as quickly as I can is here and NOW- so I was wondering if anyone else has used this? How many packets are too many?
I took one three hours ago in his office- oh, look it did just like he said and thwarted an attack, but it came on full strength exactly three hours later and I did another powder. Well, it isnt working and I wonder if I should use another one or just give up? Anyone ever use it?

Ill be back, I promise, and I will see if this post even makes sense and I will introduce myself then.

Cambia powder does not seem to do anything for CH, although it can help some people for migraine.

It was previously discussed on this forum:

As discussed there, I'd look for someone who knows about CH, so a good headache specialist and not just a neuro. CHs are a complex area of medicine and it needs someone with a good understanding of the area to give the correct diagnosis and work out the appropriate treatment that will work for you. So from the knowledge shown by your current doctor you might be a lot better off looking for someone else and save yourself a whole lot of pain.

When your CH wears off please introduce yourself and tell us more about your CHs, what you take to prevent them and what you take when you get one to kill it off.

thanks. My neuro promised me yesterday that the cambia powder worked better than Oxygen, better than Imitrex (allergic to Imitrex). So, now that I have my brain back, I see that he lied.
Going now to introduce myself.

I can abort my CHs in around 5 minutes, often quicker with a combination of a high flow rate and a non-rebreather mask. I can't imagine how anything which relies on ingesting any substance will match that.

Given his apparent knowledge of CH and his ethics I'd look at another neurologist who really does specialise in CH.
