If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all!

Hi,

I just came across this forum.  I've had CH bouts since 1994/95.  Usually once a year (mostly fall/spring) and last 2 weeks to 2 months (1 went 3 months)  Ever since I started acupuncture in 2007 (but quit going in 2011),  haven't had a cluster period until about 2 weeks ago.

Reason for the subject is that during this bout, have had numerous screw ups with medical professionals which all of us know we don't need.  From the 3 prescriptions doctor sent into Walgreens that were made at the wrong store that I asked (had to call and transfer delaying them being ready) to medical provider  of oxygen 'saying' that they sent the medical necessity for oxygen from my doctor....after a week called insurance, they didn't get it.  Called medical provider, they 'said' they sent again....not sure if they dropped the ball or if insurance did.  Just can't believe the screw ups at this time...and I'm paying Dr 200/office visit with the prescription screwups.  This may sound stupid but I had thought that if these people had 1 cluster headache attack, they would help prevent this.

Trying oxygen for the 1st time instead of the abort drug Maxalt.  Just started using Lithium as a preventitive.  In the past, would get just as bad rebound headaches from over use of Maxalt.

Hoping to get oxygen by holiday this weekend but pessimistic.  All paperwork was 'sent' to insurance for approval 6/24 but nothing yet.  Thinking I'll be stuck in the house most of this weekend like last weekend.

Thanks,
Dave

Get you some Red Bull (or Monster) and chug it at the first sign of a hit and see if that helps some.

Also check out the D3 regimen. It's helped a whole lot of us and you can get all that at the drug store.

don't know what to tell you about the O2.. I just paid for mine (it wasn't that expensive and I needed it NOW). Be SURE you have the right mask (read the O2 info at the left).

Hope your weekend is PF.. Fingers crossed..  Kiss

Have to agree with Barbara! I never would have thought about it, but Red Bull worked for me, after 20 years!! I was already on a D3 regimen, but chugging a Red Bull when I felt the "twinge" either aborts it or shortens the cluster considerably!! (I only wish someone would have told me the same YEARS ago!!)
