CH moved to teeth
Jun 22nd, 2015 at 2:10pm

Hi All, This is my first post here, diagnosed last year after 20 years of being told I had migraine! Always had classic ch symptoms, 18month cycle (thankfully) 5 weeks of madness then 18months off. right sided, eyes watering snotty nose etc always considered the ch as an entity and used this as a coping mechanism, however you will now think I am off the wall, once diagnosed I think it knew and has changed strategy. It has gone down to my teeth!!!! has anyone else had it where the pain has moved from eye to teeth??

Hi ds,
I haven't experienced this myself, but this subject comes
up quite often, so your not alone, folk have actually  had
teeth pulled, to no avail. It's just the nature of the beast.

Cheers, Hoppy

This is a good drawing (from Wikipedia) showing the branches of the trigeminal nerve. It has branches around the eyes, forehead and teeth, which accounts for people getting CH symptoms like pain in each of the areas.

I quite often get the pain in the teeth. Biting an ice cube helps.

My CHs caused so much nerve pain in my teeth that I got an unnecessary root canal. It hits my sinuses the worst.

Yep. Sort of. About 10 years ago I started developing mouth pain independent of the CHs. Went to every specialist, including the expert on oral-facial pain in So Cal.
Turns out I have an idiopathic neuropathy that hurts all day, every day. Where this is relevant is that it's along the 3rd branch of our enemy, the trigeminal nerve. So, in addition to the daily pain, when I get a cluster, that area of my mouth (right gum line-same side as the clusters) lights up. Feels like someone plugged my gums into an electric outlet.

My CH was first diagnosed as TMJ disorder. I actually have both conditions, but the severe pains come mainly from the CH itself.

CH is a shapeshifter. Just when you think you know when where how what it consists of, something changes -- time of year, duration, frequency, etc.

Last week I went off my meds for a couple of days and I had two clusters that night involving the sensation of a dagger through my larynx, which was a new one.
