About to be homeless due to CH
Nov 1st, 2017 at 10:00am

Hey folks, my name is Ryan. We all know how this horrible affliction can have an effect on our daily lives whether its mental or physical or what our loved ones goes through while we suffer. I'm a 10 year vet when it comes to cluster headaches and a chronic sufferer. Cluster headaches destroyed my life. These last 5 months have been complete hell. I lost my partner, lost my job that I loved, losing my dogs and now losing my home, all because of cluster headaches. I have no medical insurance so all money for ER visits and failed medications come out of my pocket, thus leaving me with a negative balance in my checking account that I can do nothing about. I applied for food stamps, Medicaid and disability, but its a waiting game for paperwork to be processed. I'll be homeless by the end of the month but hopefully I'll have food stamps and possibly Medicaid. My attacks are so chronic, random and strong that I can't hold down any job that has a set schedule and because this condition prevents me from working, I cannot claim unemployment benefits. My power will be turned off tomorrow at 5pm so I'll have to use the library to get internet access. It's so hard to get help and I've been trying so damn hard. I'm just so depressed and losing my dogs just kills me because they've been the best emotional support for me through all of this. Why do these attacks keep getting stronger? I could at least handle the middle of the night 20 min attacks but now its 2 to 3 hours per attack. Everyday, every frickin' day. I set up a go fund me page to try to at least raise money to keep my dogs and my apartment but I've gotten no response. I don't have much of a family so no help for me there. Not sure what I do at this point. At least turning here to this site, with others like me, gives me some sense of being heard and understood. Feels better than being ignored for 5 months until your life falls apart. I'll keep fighting, but I'm so, so tired.
Thanks for listening.

Just like Greeneyes wrote, it is heart breaking to read this. Anyone who has CH can easily see how it could potentially result in the slippery slope to the situation that you are in as uncontrolled CH has such an impact.

With the references to Medicaid it looks like you are in the USA, so hopefully someone with local knowledge can give you some pointers to how you can get assistance for the situation you are in.

Have you tried preventives / abortives?

Have you tried using vitamin D3? You can read up how over 80% of people who have used it have gone CH pain free / significantly reduced CH - Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register. Using it I've been CH pain free for almost 6 years.

I really hope you get some positive progress soon. Sending good wishes from NZ.

Hello Ryan,

Very sorry to hear that the beast has been so hard on you.  I can completely understand how a series of events such as yours can unfold.  For a long time I felt alone in the battle with little understanding from those around me.  "Sure you got a headache take two advils" was the general response type.   Just knowing that it is an actual condition helped rationalize it, but didn't solve the pain.   I've had a positive reduction since following the D3 regiment, but as I was close to the "normal" length of time the cycle lasts, I can't be sure.  I'm going to continue with it and log results, the traditional medical doctors have not been much help.  I felt more like a lab rat than a patient.  Next cycle I'm going to try the busting technique and see if that works, could be a relatively cheap solution.

I found your go fund me page, nice looking dogs.   Hope you can find a system to get relief from the beast.

Thanks for the donation Trent. Your the only one who has donated to my medical fund, I hope some awesome karma comes your way. I got accepted to take part in a research study for CH out in L.A, all expenses paid, so I'm going to do it. I applied for disability today too, but chances are slim for that without a lawyer, but I'll keep trying. I just don't want to be sleeping in the park and still dealing with attacks. Who knows, maybe a miracle might happen to me in L.A. It's the place where your dreams can come true right? I'm from New Orleans (N.O.L.A the other L.A) where dreams come to die. Lol! Thanks again Trent! Cheers!

ok, wow, that's a lot to digest. I bookmarked the page, that way I can bring it up when I see this specialist in L.A. I can't start anything new at this point, due to the fact it may interfere with the controlled study. But this looks like it may work. Thank you again for this important information. I will put it to good use.

Whilst a lot to digest, we've had many people, myself included, go CH pain free for multiple years. So spending some time reading through it, asking questions, etc. could have huge benefits for you.

sorry it took a while to check in, I have to use the library's computer now since my power is off. still waiting on the folks who are doing this CH study, the same people who put that advertising on our support page, hoefully I hear from them by the end of the week.
My clusters have changed once again, now my worst attacks are during the day but I only get one at night now, which is ok because now I can do something I haven't been able to do for awhile...SLEEP.
ive begun to sell my stuff, I have to be out of my apartment by the end of the month. Maybe I can make a few dollars to put in my pocket. Well, that's all for now, I promise to stay in touch the best that I can. Peace.
