Blurry Vision
Dec 7th, 2019 at 1:03pm

Greetings,

I am currently in a cluster cycle that is severe. I get them in the middle of the night, and I don't dare open my eyes for at least an hour or two, and I must stay in total darkness, or it will trigger further intense pain. It feels like the eyelid is super-glued to the eye itself! My cluster attack lasts in total for about 3 hours before it fades, even with 15 ml of oxygen being used immediately. What is most difficult and disturbing, though, is that the vision in the affected eye stays blurry for many days after. I usually don't regain full vision until about two weeks or so post-headache. Has anyone else had this type of experience? Please share any details that would be helpful if you know of any... thank you!

As if Custers aren't enough, there's those of us who get to enjoy more than one type of headache.  (Oh, what fun!)

Might be worth talking with your doctor about this because that last attack, which must have been bloody awful, doesn't really sound like a CH.

Hope it was just a one-off but probably warrants a bit of a check-up just to be sure.

Not your atypical CH symptoms, best to check in with a headache specialist for a confirmed diagnosis.

Thank you AussieBrian and Hoppy for the quick replies!... Most of my experience is classic CH stuff, like time of day, symptoms, foods and weather that triggers them, type of pain, etc. It's just the recovery from blurred vision that takes a while and is concerning. Recently went to ophthalmologist after last cycle in September but he found nothing. Thought maybe there was possible optic neuritis as I had lingering dull pain in the eye. This time I will call a neurologist or headache specialist here in Orange County, CA. to look further... Just not sure who the good ones are around here...
