I use both the Imitrex injections and the pill form. The Imitrex injection is about $45 a shot for me, while the pill is about $12 a piece. I use the pill on migraine headaches. I recently tried breaking a pill in half and using it. (I got the idea from a post on ch.com) The effectiveness was just as good. The pills, however, take longer to work than the injection. With the injection, it takes just 3 - 4 minutes to abort a CH headache. The same for a migraine. I never tried a pill on a CH, but with a migraine it takes 30 minutes to an hour to abort the migraine, which I hear is about as long as it takes to work on a CH. If your Dad continues to take the pill, and if it does work with the CH, maybe he could try half a pill like me. If he takes it as soon as he feels a CH coming on, have him take a half a pill and hopefully it will work. That way it would only be $8.50 a pill for him!
