Hi Don:

The first time I experienced a full-blown cluster headache, I thought I had a brain tumour. When I went to see the doctor, I quickly became very emotional while trying to explain my symptoms: the sudden onset, the pressure behind the eyeball, the watering, puffy eye, the feeling that my head was going to explode at any time, and that I'd better get home quick so that I didn't have an accident in my car when my head did explode.

I think the emotion comes from the fear of the unknown: is it going to be as bad as the last time, am I going to come out of this one in one piece, is there something else wrong that they are missing?

This board is a real lifesaver! Everyone here is so willing to respond to questions and concerns. I too am a daily reader, and only once in awhile post. I discovered this site last August at the tail end of my cycle and have really appreciated all the knowledge I have gained. My cycle is still not defined - the first in 1986 for 6 weeks; 1994 for three months; and 1998 for about 6 weeks. If this schedule holds, I'm not due for another bout until the Year 2000. In the meantime, I live each day to the fullest, enjoy my kids and grandchildren and make plans for retirement with my husband.

Once again, God bless DJ for making this site possible. Until I found this board, I did not know anyone else with clusters, and in Northern BC, even Vancouver is a long, long away.

Take care. Hopefully, we'll all be pain-free soon!

Cheers,
Bobbie
