Hi Simon,
So sorry for your loss. It's never easy but if your family is anything like mine, quiet often this is the only opportunity to get together any more. Sad comment, isn't it?
As far as meeting the love of your life and losing her because of the CH, let me tell you something. Way back when, when Mike and I were just dating, the Beast made an appearance one evening on about our second or third date. He just kept saying to himself, "Oh, no - not now, not now!" I didn't fully understand what was going on, of course, but it sure didn't make me want to look for the nearest exit. Quite the opposite in fact - made me want to help. Thus began my learning process. You gotta believe that fate plays a hand here. If it is meant to be, it will be. If you think she may be "the one", call her, explain what CH is (it's a pretty safe bet she doesn't know). Don't assume that you are judged and written off by something you can't control.
As far as driving through ON in the summer, I think you made a wise choice by making the trip as short as possible. Mike is from Kingston and that humidity is awesome. A friend of ours from SK goes back there every now and then and he saids the air just about chokes him. Us Westerners are spoiled with our dry heat out here.
Hope the Beast gives you a break. Hang in there.
CALL HER!!
water water water
Margi
