I'm a 42-year-old woman with clusters since age 15. I've had fewer and briefer clusters during the past 15 years since taking amitriptyline for another problem (fibromyalgia). Last cluster was 3 years ago -- pretty nice remission! Over the years I've tried oxygen (worked for a while), sansert (yuck), lithium( bigger yuck) and Verapamil (not too bad). I discovered Imitrex in my last cluster and it really works like a miracle. Of course, it's hard on the wallet, and sometimes I have to do 2 or 3 a day when the headaches are bad. More typically, it's one a day, over a period of several weeks. Anybody have anything to say about taking the shots or sprays that frequently? I experience no side effects, in fact, I feel super-duper about 10 minutes after taking it. Just thought I'd take advantage of the wisdom of fellow-sufferers. (P.S. Nothing is as comforting as that jab in the thigh when the beast wakes me up at 1 a.m.)
