I too used to feel like a drug addict. The pills made me want to go to sleep, and if I did that, i would wake up with another cluster, what a life that was. I have been on a mission to find alternative remedies that don't make me feel drugged up and don't have terrible side effects. This last cycle, although it lasted appx 8 weeks, I never got anything stronger than 7 or 8 (Kip Scale), vomiting only 2x - once right after taking cafergot! And, I hope no one here throws anything at me, but I managed them with x-tra strength tylenol, excedrin pm, and aleve. A few times I took 25mg Imitrex pills, but they did absolutely nothing. I was, and still am going for accupuncture treatments. I agree with you that there has to be a better alternative than being drugged up for these things. But when you're dealing with a #10 you take whatever you need to in order to get rid of it.
Stay well.
