I don't know if you ever truly adjust to the pain but eventually I learned to deal with it and also gave up on "PILLS" as the solution. Far too many CH sufferers are drugged out beyond belief.
I just needed to have a few rebound headaches to learn that medication is not the answer.
The best thing I can do is go to a dark, cool room with a cold cloth or icepack and try to be a s still as possible. And appreciate the times when I don't have clusters.

P.S. And my headaches are severe (although I've been headache free for the last 14 months). Normally I have 5-10 headaches a day.
