Dear Jackie M:
Just reading your post as I sit here this morning recovering from my last headache, brought tears to my eyes. I too am 45 years old and had my first headache at age 16. So I too, have lived with this hell on earth for most of my adult life. My headaches, thank god, are not with me all the time (chronic), I usually get a 1 to 2 year reprieve between clusters. Cluster lasts about 3 months. Are yours with you all the time? I am surprised that your doctor hasn't hospitalized you and tried an intravenous drip or "cocktail" as they call it. I've read in the past that this is a treatment for chronic clusters. I clearly remember feeling like I just didn't have any fight left in me any more, as there has been no medication that really helped me but prednisone and I can't take it any more because of the bad side effects. I have brought 4 children into this world and after every delivery my headahces would start up about 5-10 days later. How many times I sat and nursed a baby with a cluster headache going on. I used to feel like I was probably the only woman on earth that had to experience such torture! What I used to tell my self, and still do, is like everything in life, after the bad, comes the good. Of course after the good comes the bad, but I have more good days than bad. Also, in those moments when I wished my husband would take his shot gun and blow my head off, I'd think about my mom and dad. How could I ever do anything like that to them? You have to believe that there is something the doctors can do to help you. I believe there is. If your would like to email me, my address is kardum@clevelandnet.com. Hang in there, there are good times ahead!!!!!!
