In the section to the left, in the Medical Info section, there is a very detailed medical study of CH. It has a lot of theories as to what causes CH, but it looks to me like the cause may be different in people, or a different combination of problems. It's very interesting stuff, but you might need a medical dictionary!
There is one part saying that the changes in the blood flow or pressure in the brain seem to occur AFTER the onset of a CH, leading them to suspect something called a "primary neural discharge" as a cause, if not for CH, then maybe for the changes in blood flow.
