Hi,
I am the wife of a sufferer. Please tell your wife to feel free to email me if she needs ANY info on the care and feeding of clusterheads. We've been there done that and have concluded that our best defense is the water treatment. My husband knows he has to avoid alcohol during a cycle as it is a definite trigger for him. Other than that, though, we have found no other ingestible triggers.
Your light theory certainly does have merit, leads back to the seratonin research done here. My husband is also cyclical, usually at season (change the clocks) time when the amount of daylight is suddenly changed for our waking hours. This year, however, he completely missed his spring cycle (we like to think it's because of the water but I'm sure we'll know for sure as the fall cycle is approaching).
Hang in there and PLEASE tell your wife to visit the website, you are NOT "asking for it" - who would ever do that?? Ask her to sit down and read and learn like I did.
Hope you can stay pain free.
Water Water Water
Margi
