Tim, the Imitrex Injection is the best choice for me. I also use the Imitrex Spray....The Maxalt just didn't seem to do anything I could tell..My problem is that the Demon slips in while I am sleeping. He tippy toes in during my sleep so I can't do all the abortive ideas to ward off a bad one.
Funny story...When I was married about 15 years ago, I woke up one morning about 2:30 as my husband was just getting into bed...He worked swing shifts. I said, "Where the H__ have you been?" He said, "To the bathroom". I said, ok and went back to sleep. You see I never hear anything after I go to sleep and my bedroom is on the back side of the house. If you come in my bedroom you have to touch me to wake me up. I have never been afraid, so I never knew if someone came in after I went to sleep. This got around to our friends and it became a joke that he could have been out all night honky tonking and tell me that he had been to the bathroom and I wouldn't ever know the difference.
Back to the CH by the time my eyelids open, I am already at a 10+ to a 12 to me, so the injection is my only choice and the O2 to help take the edge off only at that point. The injection is faster although it does feel like the top of your head is going to explode. DJ has formulated a merhod of not injecting the entire dosage all at once, refer to Imitrex Tip.
If I have one an episode that is not nocturnal, very, very rare for me....only few times ever in over 36 years. Now I might be in a series and experience the 4,5,6,7s and I fight them off with the O2 and Nasal Spray.
Wish you luck, good buddy....Know what it is to have to cut back on work. During the past 3-4 weeks during all this heat(101 here today) and these 2 series (one lasting 12 days and now this one - on 2nd day now) have really cut into my pocketbook. I can't go out on callls, because if I do then the Demon repays me with a 10 in the middle of the night.
I don't have anyone that I have to report to because I am not working, just hurts myself and my commission checks...But, I am one of the lucky ones, being self-employed and able to work out of my home...
