Hello? Is this still the cluster headache message board? Good! I wasn't sure there for awhile.
Anyway, after the cluster that wouldn't go away, I finally got in to see my Dr. today. Actually, I see a P.A. , but he's better than any doc I've seen.
Here I am, driving to the clinic, feeling one coming on...O2 pumping...and I decide that its not going away, I'll take my last 1/2 Imitrex, maybe that will help. Take it, pull up, check in, and sit to wait to be called. Still coming on, as I'm weighed (lost 4 lbs), have a seat, he'll be right with you. John (you can be on a first name basis with PA's), comes in and I tell him he caught me in the middle of a headache, which draws a puzzled, concerned look. He starts asking some questions, and I'm forced to interrupt, "Do you think I could get some oxygen in here?" The way I'm holding my head as a tear runs down my cheek must have had some effect, as a nurse was there with the O2 in short order. For my first time, I was able to use the full mask instead of a piddly cannula, I cranked it to 8 or 9, and it worked like magic once again! Less than 5 minutes later, I was back to normal, if indeed that's where I started from. I really do think that it did my PA good to actually see a CH sufferer first hand, even if I didn't "get" to reach the heights of a 10.
We added a low dose of sansert to what I am currently taking, he was liberal with the pain meds, which is new, and probably more than I need. He SAW pain, which was convincing. (does sansert make you ramble on?)
One final note...My F____ing insurance wouldn't allow another Imitrex prescription. any ideas? I'm already fearful of my next go-round.
Thanks for listening. Best to you all.
