Dear Glen,
You are the first cluster h/a suferer whom I've heard mention heat mentioned in anyway to relieve pain. Up until reading your post, I've kept one of my "tricks" a secret, because I believed others would either think me a bit looney or interpret what I do as an indication that I probably only suffer from sinus headache.
I have, from time to time when no one's around, stuck my head over an open flame on the gas stove. I use this "trick" when I'm pacing mad circles in the kitchen in the middle of the night at the peak of a cluster attack It actually seems to let the apex of the pain ease slightly, but only for about 30 seconds. But hey, who wouldn't take 30 seconds out from that excrutiating pain?! The drawback is that I have given myself second degree burns to the face a few times, and actually singed my hair once. But if I could get relief from lying down in front of oncoming traffic, I would.
No, you are not alone here Glen, and while I'm sure we're all sorry that you must endure the pain of clusters, we're glad to have your support with us here.
