I took 200 mg a day for 4 days and 100 mg a day for 16 more days, headaches returned after 12 days, I went back on diflucan 200mg a day for 14 days and now I take 100 mg a day. Headaches stopped immediately after taking diflucan, same day, but I experienced die-off and felt realy lousy for 2 or 3 days. My neurologist has prescribed diflucan longterm, but he and I agree that I will periodically reduce the dosage, and I should be completely off of it in a few months. I have a long history of antibiotics and steroids being pumped in my system, but the docotors don't bother to tell you what they have done to the friendly bacteria in your gut. Personally, Jim, I understand how mad you were with Dr. Mellick, I told him via e-mail of my successes with diflucan over 6 weeks ago, and he seemed interested, but obviously he's already idsregarded my opinion and observations. Why doesn't the medical community admit that only 90,000 of us suffer from chronic clusters, how many doctors are there in the U.S? Not enough cases have been seen by the doctors to allow them the comfort of saying what works and what doesn't any longer. I also take acidophilus and grapefruit extract along with grape seed extract and a strong anti-oxidant vitamin supplement. Headache free over 2 months now. I personally feel that the neuros know about this as mine was dumbstruck when I told him of my success, he eagerly accepted my info from the Jim on the internet, the Yeast Connection Handbook, butI really think he knew. Gee, docs, sounds likd some good ole boys with clusters figured them out and somewhere in all of this could we be sitting on class action law suit against the AMA for not holding physicians resposible when they hurt your body's system with medication, and then refuse to listen when we tell them what works. Let's take control of our lives before it's too late. My deepest respect to my neurologist for prescribing the diflucan to change my life and end my headaches.
