I have both hypertension and cluster pain.I take Verapamil, which is a calcium-blocker, for both. It works like a charm against clusters. For some people with hypertension, Atenolol, which is a beta-blocker, works better than, or at least as well as, Verapamil against clusters.
Please note that, with respect to cluster pain, you do NOT have to have hypertension for Verapamil and/or Atenolol to work for you against clusters. Even people with hypotension have been sucessfully treated for clusters with Verapamil.
