Bob-
I enjoy your posts and consider you an intelligent individual. While I understand and basically agree with your comments, I believe you missed my point.
For starters, the friend I referred from is FAR from an alcoholic. I believe he said that was the first beer he'd had in 7 weeks. He intentionally used alcohol as a drug on that one specific occasion- but one used to trigger, rather than abort, an attack. Frankly, I was and remain impressed. He attempted to take control of the demon's visit, so as to allow him to enjoy a social engagement later on. His attitude was, fine, if we have to dance tonight, I'm choosing the song.
I related this tale in the thought that some might find it an interesting approach to dealing with the demon--not to suggest that anyone follow the example. And certainly not to initiate a thread (again) about alcoholism. Alcoholism is a disease and I encourage anyone who even remotely considers the possibility that he/she may have it to seek treatment. But for those who are not so afflicted, I would no sooner recommend they stop drinking than I would suggest that all Clusterheads avoid Chinese food just because some of us are sensitive to msg.
KTSSU,
T
