Imitrex does cause constriction of the arteries around the heart. If they are already narrowed, it can cause angina (chest pain), or worse, a heart attack.
He SHOULD NOT take any more Imitrex before being seen by his doctor. They may decide to give him an injection while in the office, monitoring him on an EKG during the procedure. But he needs to be checked out. No doubt about it.
