I'm a woman who's had clusters for 35 years. I
haven't noticed any differences in my reactions,
experiences, or anything compared to the men
with clusters who've posted on this board. It
seems like all the differences we post are not
gender specific, but rather person specific. And
there's an amazing current of similarity among
all of us. The one thing that I have noticed among
female cluster sufferers is perhaps a greater
tendency to be misdiagnosed as having migraines.
This happened to me--I was misdiagnosed by the
head of Neurology at Scripps Clinic. The
misdiagnosis resulted in my not getting relief of
any kind for many years. Actually, even when I
was finally correctly diagnosed, by another
doctor at Scripps, no mention was made of oxygen.
That didn't happen until I saw yet another doctor
in Los Angeles. The oxygen was the first relief
I ever got, but it could have come 20 years sooner!
