Taking verapamil can alter the frequency and timing of clusters when you start taking it, but you should wait at least 3 weeks before knowing what the full effect of the medication will be.
A frequent problem with verapamil is underdosing. I usually start at 120, rapidly increase to 240 and if the patient still doesn't have relief and is tolerating the medication, 360mg is appropriate. Work with your doctor with the dosing, though, to make sure the side effects aren't too bad...and the increases are done at your body's pace.
