i have recently tried this and love the results. in my checkbook and with my head. i wasn't sure either so i used alcohol on the needle and on my leg. i inserted the needle half way, didn't think it was necessary to insert the whole thing. don't know if the alcohol is needed, since i know i'm the only one using the needle.
