for sleep deprivation...it doesn't allow you to get into the REM phase of sleep which is where the beast can find you.
Mike takes 2 or 3 before bedtime. At least you get some rest, not the deep sleep but hell, it's better to get 6 consecutive hours of shut-eye as opposed to an hour here and there.
Try it - it's worked for many of the "oldtimers" here.
