I have little doubt that most meds cause rebound attacks. I had the same experience with Imitrex two years ago (both oral tabs and injections). I would have these day-long hangover headaches (dull, throbbing, head feels like it is in a vise, similar to a more typical migraine). Then the frequency of the cluster attacks increased dramatically. My advice: your mother should ask her doctor about ceasing the Imitrex and trying Zomig instead (new, similar to Imitrex, oral tabs only; Zeneca Pharmaceuticals). It, too, may cause rebound, but I'm using it occasionally during my current bout, and I like it much better. Side effects not as bad to me as Imitrex. Best wishes!
