Hey Doug,

When I do lithium, there are several decongestants and things I can use. The restrictions are just for sinus or asthma meds that contain the following: Calcium iodide or Iodinated glycerol or Potassium iodide—Unwanted effects on the thyroid gland may occur.
(This was from the OnHealth drug database, and I also got it verbally from my pharmacist a few years back).

Ask 'em again. Lithium is one of the most benign drugs we can use as long as we watch out for high serum levels.
