About your 1st paragraph- there IS injury in the form of vasodilation and/or constriction.
paragraph 2- no, it's the kind of brain that makes some want to go sky diving, extreme snowboarding or motor cycle racing. (or engage in this conversation)
paragraph 3- in a cluster headache, there is no "perception" of pain. The pain is real.
paragraph 4- I said it before and I'll say it again....the brain will not cause pain just to release chemicals to make the pain go away.
