I have something similar happen to me at times in
a cluster cycle, if I understand you right.

I have swelling of the blood viens throughout the
entire head and neck accompanied with sweating and
muscle pains in my neck and around to the back of
my head. It doesn't work back up to my eye, though,
on my "good side". But the actual nasty searing pain
I have is always on the left side.

I have also heard that it is rare, but, that a cluster
headache sufferer can experience the entire pain and
discomfort moving from one side to the other. The
way I understood it though, was that it would be on
one side or the other, but not on both at the same
time.

I would think if these are symptoms that his neurologist
is not aware of that he should be consulted.
