Outstanding post, Jack.
Seems that ch.com also suffers from its own form of 'cycles' and the alternative approach cycle is one we've been through before, as you know.

While I agree with most of your post, your 'effective list' doesn't seem to be substantiated by the evidence. Witness the number of recovering alcoholics and former smokers who are still here and still suffer. Of course, your advice is still dead on, from a general health perspective. Smoking, drinking, lack of exercise and bad diet are all bad for you. Changing any or all of them doesn't seem to lessen clusters, however.

I DO believe that general fitness (nope, not going into the lobsterman vs. Native American debate) DOES help prepare one to better deal with the onslaught. Just as I believe that learning to 'relax' during an attack helps. Heck, even if it doesn't affect the clusters in any way, at least you don't have to worry about bruises and busted drywall afterwards.

Oh, and stop worrying about Riccardo. His primary form of inflicting pain on Americans is to kiss the males profusely.
:-)
