Maybe it's the name? I mean I'm also a John and I've been through that very incident,("wait a minute you got this off the other board I belong to ,didn't you!")
No really it really hits home for me. I'm Severe Chronic and have been fopr a very long time. average 7 attacks a day for the last 30 years most I can keep in the 9KIP range but a good %30-%35 of them are 10+++ and I've been threatened with arrest over 10 times and had people freak completely out and rush me to the hospital Emergency room against my will!
I had an attack at Disney World(I live in Fla.) at the largest restraunt they have, I had my wife ask for a bag of Ice for me and waited nearby, the Disney Security People didn't want my suffering to interfer with the other patrons good time so they Physically escorted me to the dispencery against my will. Which Isn't an easy task as I'm 6'4" of Rhino. (By the way, back then they wouldn't allow me to bring in my cooler-That has been changed-Thank you very much!)
I hope your cycle goes into spontanious remission soon. I carry Ice in a cooler everywhere I go and if you get to it as soon as the CH starts a lot of the time it will abort the attack!
