First the myelin lining theory is a correlation that I made as well while researching CH and MS (which I have) I will put together the stuff I have come up with over the next couple of days (got some crap happening here right now, so it will have to wait) There is a drug that will regenerate myelin lining on some people. So if this indeed the case that is good news.
The extra grey matter around the hypothalamus could be a problem in that it could be blocking the receptors and uptake sites, amoung other theroies, have some stuff on that too I will send ya.
As to the fright thing, Greg most assuredly gets that. While I was in a very bad MS episode one day I had excruciating pain in my chest, and it freaked him out so much the same thing happened to him, those sensations you discribed. Along with the time when our three kids wandered off into the bush together and we couldn't find them. Other things too, ecentially the adrenalin rush I think does it. And much like my MS where you said that the damage to the myelin comes with stress etc. this may have a correlation to the CH if it is indeed related. Wonder if the adrenalin does the damage?
Will send the stuff asap.
Keep digging!
Love MOnique
