I know your pain. I also know what it's like to beat on the kitchen counter and have your child look at you. I have a 6-year-old and a 2-year-old daughter myself.
I've been chronic since the beginning, (16 years). I've only tried various medications for 13 years. I'll list for you the preventative medicines that I have tried over the past 13 years:
Verapamil
Calan SR
Prednisone
Neurontin
Depakote
Lithium
Topamax
These are the abortive treatments that I have used over the years to try and abort an individual attack:
DHE-45 injections
Ercaf, (Ergotamine)
Lidocaine
Oxygen
Imitrex Pills
Imitrex injections
