I am a great fan of Verapamil because it has worked so very well for me; so you could say that I am biased. However, I would try Verapamil before Prednisone simply because you sound as if you do not like taking prescribed drugs. Yes, Verapamil is a prescibed drug, but its side effects are minimal compared to prednisone (in fact Ive had no side effects at all!). In addition to this, it is generally accepted as the 'first line' treatment for episodic clusters. When I first visited this site, which was pre-diagnosis, I was recommened to try Verapamil first and it worked like a charm, and I'm chronic!
