The reason why LSD and other psychoactive drugs may be effective in treating CH is due to the drugs action on the mind rather than on the body. Many will not like this theory/treatment because of the stigma of CH then being a mental disorder rather than a physical disorder. Further, the risks of treating the mind directly with drugs is greater than the milder physical-target treatments, principally due to the vast unknowns when dealing with the mind.
Anyone considering using psychoactive drugs for the treatment of CH are encouraged to read the paper entitled "LSD-25, My Problem Child" written by Dr. Albert Hoffman, the inventor of LSD. The paper is included in the Study Group website. The paper is some 80+ pages long and provides detailed explainations of the methods he found useful in administering the drug to himself and others.
I have discussed the use of psychoactive drugs, including LSD, for the treatment of MY CH with maybe a dozen folks, including my sponsor, family, physician, psychiatrist and close friends, none of whom has said anything like don't do it or you're just looking for a high. I have considered the possiblility that this is perhaps one of the most elaborate relapse set-ups I have ever devised, and there have been some dussies.
I am ready to try the LSD-25 route, but my problem lies in supply, not having a reliable source. I understand that LSD-25 is still legally available by license but am not sure what the process for obtaining such a license is.
