The 0-10 scale is a fine one that everybody understands when it comes to judging a beauty contest, describing the weather, or rating TV shows. It is a fine one for rating CH attacks, also.
But it is often hard to know how my 7 compares to someone else's 7 - just as it is hard to agree on what constitutes a "10" day. All ratings are relative as we all know.
I see no harm in posting "A 10+ hit me last night," or something to that effect in a chatty message.
However, if we are participating in a survey, we need to be more precise. We each can tell about the levels we feel we have experienced by comparing their intensity. I might have a 4, later a 6,and maybe an 8 or 9 in the course of a night. With the higher ones I cannot do anything except self-treat with heat, pull my hair, etc.
This may not be the case with another sufferer.
About all we can say for sure is that CH pain is too horrible to describe to someone who has never experienced it.
To me the worst part is the fact that it is so unrelenting. I am a wimpy episodic clusterhead who cannot even imagine what I would do if I had these things everyday. It would be a battle to survive. I would want to, surely, but could I? I don't know.
One thing is clear. SOMETHING must be done to stop this agony!
