Janice:
Imitrex was my savior about 4 years ago. I had tried just about everything (Verapamil, Sansert, oxygen, Depakote, etc.), but none of them worked. The first time I received Imitrex was in a doctor's office (they like to monitor you the first time you take it). The nurse told me she had never seen it NOT work on a migraine or cluster headache. Well, within 5 minutes of injection, it was gone. My blood pressure rose for a few minutes and I experienced a funny tingling sensation in my neck, but those were the only side effects. Since then, I have taken both the self-injections (they're no big deal) and the tablets. The injections work very quickly but the tablets also work after about 20 minutes, and are probably the cheaper way to go if you don't have insurance.
