It's where I live. The airport is not close to any of the hotels. You will have to take a taxi or rent a car. Unless you're going to do a lot of sightseeing while here for the convention, I'd go for the taxi. There's also limo service at the airport. Many of the resorts offer shuttle service for their guests but I don't know about the Monte Carlo. Try looking at www.monte-carlo.com
If that doesn't work try searching for Monte Carlo Resort casino in your search engine.
There are places to shop and eat everywhere near the Hotel (other Hotels). They all have coffee shops to buffets for top of the line resturants.
August is the hottest month of the year here. The normal afternoon temps will be 100 to 110 degrees. August is also the monsoon season here. We get almost 4 inches a year, that's correct four inches, so don't worry about that.
