welcome to the site, unfortunately.

Check the 'headache links' button on the left of the screen for med sites that will give you all the Imitrex side-effects.

Basically, Imitrex is a god-send for many, if not most, of us. "Immediate" side effects are few, and certainly nothing like Stadol. It does have risks long term, however, and it isn't effective for everyone. Heart problems, high blood pressure and several other things contra-indicate you for Imitrex.

I'm a wimp who can't deal with needles, which is the most effective form. Tablets DO work, but you must learn to read your shadows or precursors so that you take it in time.

There are also newer triptans like Amerge which have similar, but slightly different, side effects and results. Amerge appears to be longer-lasting, thus presenting the possibility of use as a kind of prophylactic, while Imitrex is strictly abortive.

Hope this helps and give the doc hell. As different as we all are, the one thing we have all learned is that WE must take control of our disorder and treatment....very few docs really know as much as we do.
KTSSU,
T
