Doctors are in a precairous situation in that they sometimes are looked at as "God" of a sort sometimes loosing sight of their own limitations ,however it's this very mindset that deducts from that doctors ability to practice good medicine.
Your opinion is the one that is parimont in this instance and the only consideration should be your health, not your doctor's feelings. Demand the referal if you have to as I'm sure any Good Doctor would feel remiss in his duty if comfronted with such a logical request. In other words like our Oprah says.
