I'm a 56 year old insurance broker who hasen't had CH's in over 11 years. I've been having them for about 3 months now. When I had them before Sancert kept them pretty much under control. Now I can't get Sencert. Doc put me on Imitrex 50mg, it takes 3 pills per day to hold them off, even then some still get through. Man is that stuff expensive. Good thing I've got someone in the insurance business to help out. My Doc at KU Med Center also uses O2 and Lydocaine as a nasal spray. It works sometimes if I get onto the HA soon enough. Doc Ziggler also told me of something called Zostrix HP, a topical medication used for arthritis that you put on a Q-tip and stick up your nose. It BURNS LIKE HELL, but it helped the headache. You can get it over the counter at any drug store. I've used it enough that it doesn't burn quite as much, I also take a snort of lydocaine first which kills some of the burning. I'd like to know if anybody knows if you can still get Sancert. It really worked well for me. I'd also like to know if anyone has had their HA in remission only to have them start again after being under anesthetic. During the 11 yrs. I've been in remission I had one short bout after back surgery. I went to ER they knocked me out and no more HA till now. I just had open heart surgery on 7\14\98 then again on 7\18\98 was under for over 10 hours total. Any help or new ideas, I'd be greatful. This is a horrable illiness. This web site is a God sent. Its comforting to know there is someone who understands. Hope to get to know some of you.
GOD BLESS!!!
