I've used Imitrex injections from clusters since 1995 (3 episodes: late 95, 8/97, and now) and every time it has aborted the attack! I also get the feeling of being "out of it" after the injection, but I consider it a small price to pay to get rid of a cluster (ditto injecting a needle into my leg). The only drawback I find is the price (and insurance co. penny-pinching) and 2-per-day limit, so I only use it for the most severe attacks. (Rest of the time I use fiorinal, which I've used for my clusters since 1987).
