I can see where this would be very uncomfortable on your temple or neck. It burns like hell up your nose! BUT, it's currently in the process of aborting my second CH!!! Woke up at 3am with a 7 and I put a very small amount on the septal wall of my nose on the same side as the CH, left side for me. You have to make sure it's on the septal wall (the piece that seperates your 2 nostrils). Then you just sit back and wait for the burning to start. Last time the burning lasted well over 3 hours but I'd take the burning over a CH anyday. The pharmacist said it triggers the same neural? pathways as the CH and overloads the brain, so the brain can't recognize that it's trying to have a HA. Hey, whatever works, right?
