The more one has the more humble he or she should be.
We who live in the US of A in the year 2000 have enormous blessings. Most everyone else who has ever lived in the history of mankind has lived a shorter more brutal life than any of US will live.
We did not earn these blessings. It was an accident of birth. It was through the grace of God that I was born in America in 1950 rather than the England of your friend Dickens or yersteday in Zaire or 3,000 years ago in Egypt.
When you pass those homeless people in Rochester during your walkabouts I know you look at them with compassion. You do not look at them with contempt. You know that they are there because of an accident of birth. They lost in the crapshoot of genetics. They got those genes associated with mental illness or alcoholism or lack of will power. You would also not trade places with them. And finally you are smart enough to know that it is really the grace of God that has kept you from joining them.
