When I'm in ER the demerol does nothing for me. I did finally get comfort from morphine. I don't know how much they gave me, but it started with demerol, then two shots of morphine into the IV. I still wouldn't shut up (I'm the wimp) so I heard the nurse say this will shut him up. This third dose must have been much larger since I could feel the morphine go up my arm and down my legs. I finally felt comfort, but it didn't knock me out. I think everyone responses differently to the pain meds. The doctors always seem surprised that I can take so much and still be awake. This experience was with kidney stones not CHs.
