i've gotten cluster headaches for about 8 years and i am 29 now. my ch's come about every
four to six month's and the cycle lasts about a week and a half. the pain builds up for about
20 minutes, is very intense for 20 minutes, and goes away over the next twenty minutes.
this occurs every four to six hours for a week and a half. i've always been able to take the pain,
but have come close to going to the er. my family doctor had asked if i would consider taking
medication, but i have so far refused. my fear is that taking medication may alter my ha's in some
way that the may become worse and push them past the point of being able to tough them out. has anyone
experienced any situations where a medication did not work and turned out to make the situation
worse? also, i possibly would consider taking some type of medication when the first ha hits and staying
on it for two weeks and then going off of it until my next bout occurs. has anyone had any success
with this type of strategy? finally, can anyone recommend a gould headcahe doctor in the baltimore
area, i'd rather start with a specialist than with my family doctor. thanks for reading my message.
