My clusters started out milde, and got worse over a series of years. I finally
seeked out some advice (they always happened in winter). I thought I had a
sinus infection. My family doc made the diagnosis right away! Steriods ahve not worked
for me, I found some relief last fall/winter with acupuncture and a crysthaninum (sp?) tea
from the same guy. I'm so lucky compared to a lot of people on this board that I get them relatively infrequently. Of course
when it's 3am and I'm outside sucking air trying to cool off my brain I don't feel that way.

Now they have started up again (on fathers day, ironically). This is bad for me because I have always
gone out into the cold air as an abortive technique. They have also been less frequent but worse this time -
my last one was on a plane - made me loose my breakfast. Anyway, I have totally avoided chocolate, caffine and alcohol, and
I have not had one since. I'm hoping that the cluster is passed and I can go back to a normal diet but I have not been brave
enough to try. Maybe I'll give it another week.

good luck and dont' be afraid to try some alternative techniques to prevent these beasts!
