RBC carry O2 then and mine were high which would suggest I had plenty of oxygen, then why would smoking (CO) make them even higher. In my non medical brain it seems like it would be the exact opposite, they would be low. Also if they were high and O2 (as you stated) helps CH sufferes then it would seem to me that a high RBC would only help Ch sufferes. I am prob way out of my league in this discussion and wrong, but dosen't hurt to ask
