I used the Imitrex injections years ago when they first came on the market. The Imitrex injections are sub-cue (subcutaneous - just under the skin). On occasion, I would hit a blood vessel or vein and it would bleed and then subsequently bruise. It is the bleeding beneath the skin surface that results in your bruise. Now I have moved past Imitrex to the big leagues. I have to prepare and inject a combo of Nubain & Phenergan IM (intramuscular - needle=1 1/2 in,) I use my thighs and/or hips. And yes I agree, you need to count to at least five before you withdraw the needle. GOOD LUCK!!
