While taking Elavil, you really should not have any caffeine. The Excedrine your husband takes has quite a lot of caffeine. Drink only caffeine-free coffee, and soda. My daughter, ll, takes Elavil for Basilar Artery Migraines. So far, it works well, but really have to watch what she eats; I have heard a lot of weight-gain problems. Three doctors warned us about the caffeine, including our neurologist. best wishes
